Confluence PSG Leadership
Confluence is led by Berrick Abramson, a nationally respected policy thought-leader, facilitator and strategist. Projects and client engagements are led and staffed by a diverse team with backgrounds in government, business, public policy, education, economic and workforce development, and the nonprofit space.
As President, Berrick oversees all aspects of Confluence’s work and is directly involved in most projects. He brings a diverse background in public policy, international affairs, education, technology and finance. His policy work has included policy research, development, advancement and implementation in states across the country. Drawing on his time in both the private and public sectors he leads a variety of projects with local and state governments and government agencies with a focus on operational efficiencies and consensus building strategies. Berrick is a nationally respected thought leader with more than two decades of experience in public policy and has been a trusted senior advisor to a number of local, state and federal officials. He had led work on a variety of complex policies ranging from fiscal policy and transportation funding to the use of federal funds in different programs, creating comprehensive strategic plans at the local and state level and supporting leaders establishing legislative, corporate and agency priorities.
Prior to becoming President at Confluence PSG, Berrick was Senior Policy Director at the Keystone Policy Center where he built and led the good government, education and workforce practices. Before establishing and building those practices, Berrick led the Policy & Government Affairs team of a 400+ person national non-profit where he oversaw state policy and state strategic planning efforts nationally. Prior to his work in public policy, Berrick worked in corporate finance and technology in San Francisco where he led over $1bn in transactions including $750mm in merger and acquisition transactions and over $300mm in institutional investments & underwritings for start-up and growth stage businesses in a variety of sectors. He served as founder or senior executive of several start-ups with varying exits from acquisition or other liquidity event and he continues to serve as a mentor to entrepreneurs through the Techstars Accelerator program. Berrick is an avid gardener, skydiver, open water paddler and adventure race competitor. In addition to his involvement in his own community and in ocean conservation efforts globally, Berrick became active in efforts to support awareness and research for Crohn’s Disease when an aggressive form of the disease was nearly fatal for him in 2019. Berrick was appointed to serve as Commissioner on the Colorado Commission on Higher Education by Colorado’s Governor in 2019 where he chairs the Student Success and Workforce Alignment Committee, one of two committees of the Commission. He was re-appointed to a second four-year term as Commissioner in 2023.
